Peachy Peaches at the Farmers Market

I was walking around the farmers market the other day and I was just loving the fresh produce and goods all around me. The fresh flavors of each season are very inspiring. With it being summertime in Texas, there is no shortage of peaches at the farmers market stands.

Farmers markets are perfect for a Saturday or Sunday morning stroll. I used to go to the markets in San Diego every Sunday. Let me tell ya, Texas has NOTHING on California farmers markets. For awhile, I missed the fresh California produce all year round.  (Ok, I still miss them.) Then I started heading to the Texas farmers markets and appreciating the Central Texas flavors of each season.

The more and more I shop at the Austin markets, the more I appreciate the craftsmanship of the foods and items sold. The fresh goat cheese is TO DIE FOR. Fresh eggs from local farms get snatched up quickly. Dressings, sauces, and broths are the best when homemade and local. And during the summer, the fresh produce is piled high. So naturally, I was inspired!

Post-workout protein and carbohydrates are a key component of muscle recovery and muscle building. As you exercise, your muscles will breakdown and they will need to be replenished through protein and carbohydrates. Post-workout smoothies will provide quick, simple protein and carbohydrate source to rebuild those muscles and get your back to the gym sooner!

Not all proteins are the same and not every protein can be consumed by all bodies. I am preferential to vegan proteins simply because they are easier on my digestive system. However, I encourage folks to try out different proteins in different flavors to find one that works for you! I prefer Vega protein for the smooth texture. What is your favorite protein powder?

The beauty of protein powder is you can add them to just about any flavor and create a delicious smoothie! Try to get fresh peaches while they are in season and the flavor will be that much better. Chop them up and freeze them for later use, too! I’ve also added a little touch of surprise flavor to give this smoothie a freshness kick. Can you find it?
